Jeffery Redding, Director of Choral Activities at West Orange High School in Winter Garden, Florida is the recipient of the 2019 Grammy Award for Music Educator of the Year. Dr. Redding has led his choirs in performances at state, regional, and national conventions of the American Choral Directors’ Association (ACDA). West Orange choirs have earned first place awards at Heritage Festivals of Gold in California, Chicago, New York and at the Festival of Spirituals in Washington D.C. While participating in the International Music Festival in Verona, Italy, West Orange received the Gold Award for best choir, with Dr. Redding honored as top director.
Nationally, Dr. Redding is in demand as a guest conductor and lecturer. He has conducted the ACDA National High School Honor Choir, the Central Division ACDA Honor Choir, the North Central Division ACDA Honor Choir, the Eastern Division ACDA Honor Choir and All-State and Honor choirs in Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, South Dakota, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. In 2014, he was the only American adjudicator at the International Choral Festival, Verona, Italy and most recently, he conducted at the TAISM Festival of Choirs in Muscat, Oman. He is also one of the conductors for Disney’s Candlelight Processional at Epcot.
Dr. Jeffrey Redding
Lisa Hewitt is the music specialist at Westbrooke Elementary School in Orange County, Florida. She holds a BME from Stetson University/DeLand, FL. Her education also includes post-Level III Orff Schulwerk Teacher Education, and World Drumming Level I. Lisa has attended the International Summer Courses at the Orff Institute in Salzburg, Austria and Spain Orff in Madrid, Spain. Her responsibilities with the American Orff-Schulwerk Association (AOSA) include attending the annual International Orff Forum Conference in Salzburg where she presented this past summer. Lisa organized and implemented the first All-State Orff Ensemble in the nation as the All-State Orff Coordinator for the Florida Music Education Association in 2016. She has presented in several states and at the AOSA national conference in Denver. In addition to conducting several Orff All County ensembles, Lisa will be the first All-State Orff clinician for Idaho Music Education Association this coming January. She has served as president of the Central Florida Orff Chapter, AOSA Region IV representative on the National Board of Trustees, and currently serves on the AOSA Executive Committee as president, 2019-2021.
